MADRID. We are looking for actors for a student short film about grief, loss and the different ways people deal with the death of someone they love.
THE STORY
After the death of their best friend Hugo, brothers David and Conner cope with grief in very different ways. Conner tries to process the loss and carry on with his life, while David avoids it by partying and pretending everything is fine. When Hugo’s favourite song plays at a party, David can no longer escape his grief. At the funeral, the brothers finally confront their loss together.
ROLES
DAVID – Male, 20–25
A 22-year-old student studying to become a teacher. After being bullied at school, he became determined to prove himself, but struggles to communicate his emotions and commit to relationships.
CONNER – Male, 18–22
A 20-year-old who values responsibility and keeping his life organised. He struggles with the recent loss of his best friend while trying to support his brother.
BELLA – Female, 18–25
21 years old and Hugo’s girlfriend of two years. After losing him, she remains close to David and Conner as they deal with his death.
HUGO – Male, 18–25
21 years old, kind, gentle and introverted. He loves music, vinyl records and playing musical instruments. He is David and Conner’s best friend.
PRIEST – Male/Female, 30+
Small speaking role. Appears at Hugo’s funeral.
